The Tennessee Titans will turn things over to rookie quarterback Cam Ward in 2025. While that was assumed throughout the offseason, the situation got more clarity Monday after the team announced Will Levis would miss the entire season due to shoulder surgery.

The Titans announced the news on X, saying it was supportive of Levis' "decision to focus on his long-term health."

Levis, 26, started 12 games for the Titans last season, putting up a 2-10 record. He threw for 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Levis reportedly dealt with the injury throughout last season and decided to have surgery after the pain lingered, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Titans finished the season 3-14, earning the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While the team was hesitant to reveal its plans prior to the draft, hints emerged suggesting Ward would be the pick. Those rumors turned out to be true. The Titans took Ward with the No. 1 overall pick, and immediately handed him a legendary jersey number.

All of that seemed to suggest Ward would open the 2025 season as the team's starter. Despite that, the Titans had yet to make any announcement regarding the quarterback position. With training camp set to open Tuesday, it appeared the team would let Levis, Ward and the rest of the quarterbacks battle it out during camp. While Ward appeared very likely to win that "battle," his job got a lot easier following Monday's news.

With Levis out, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are the only other quarterbacks other than Ward on the team's depth chart. While Allen and Boyle have experience as starters, neither player is expected to seriously push Ward for the QB1 role.

Barring an injury, the Ward era seems extremely likely to begin when the Titans take on the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
