Twin sisters married their respective husbands in a double wedding.
Kaitlyn and Kayla Tam, both 28, have done almost everything side by side since being born just nine minutes apart. Their joint wedding ceremony, held on Aug. 2 at the Filter Club in Philadelphia, was no different.
"Sharing the experience of being a bride with my sister felt special, and I preferred not having the spotlight solely on myself," says Kayla, who was born second.

Kayla and Kaitlyn's engagements happened within a few months of each other, so they naturally began wedding planning around the same time. They soon discovered that they wanted the same wedding date for different reasons. Instead of fighting over the date, they decided to share it.
"Initially, I was a bit upset, but we soon realized that combining our weddings would be more cost-effective and convenient for our shared friends and family," Kayla explains.
Kaitlyn admits that she initially "wasn’t keen" on the idea, but didn’t express her reservations because she didn't want her sister to "feel bad." She was unsure if a double wedding would be feasible because she feared they'd argue over decisions. However, after later discussing it at length, the sisters decided to proceed as long as their partners were on board.

Kayla's then-fiancé, Wesley Yang, 29, was "immediately supportive" of having a double wedding. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn's then-fiancé, Joshua Liverman, 32, was "hesitant at first," but he eventually warmed up to the idea and agreed it would be "fun and exciting."
The twins' parents "just wanted us to be happy," so they were "supportive" of watching their daughters tie the knot simultaneously. However, the brides' mutual friends had "mixed reactions."
"Some thought it was crazy, while others found it cool to celebrate both of us simultaneously," Kaitlyn says.

Kaitlyn and Kayla "envisioned a timeless and elegant wedding with a touch of fun." Their "speakeasy"-themed reception had a "fun, yet classy club vibe" as their venue featured a trophy room with a pair of bowling lanes, a game area and a bar.
"Our main priority was ensuring we had everything we needed without stepping on each other’s toes," Kaitlyn says, with Kayla adding, "Despite a few slight hiccups, everything turned out perfect."
Although Kaitlyn and Kayla's ceremonies were combined, they still did a few things separately. They stood with their backs facing each other, and each couple took turns with their own officiant.

Kaitlyn agrees, "Sharing such a significant life event with your twin is incredibly special. This wedding is something we will always remember and cherish."
Kaitlyn and Kayla have "always shared a close bond." From sharing a room most of their life to playing sports together growing up, they did almost everything as a pair. Now, they're not as glued to the hip, but they still "love dining out and spending time together every other weekend."
"Despite occasional arguments, we always support each other and consider ourselves best friends," Kayla says. Kaitlyn adds, "Although we occasionally bicker, it’s never serious ... Kayla is my best friend, and I’d do anything for her."
