TikTok user Mr. Fantasy has racked up millions of likes for his striking resemblance to Riverdale actor KJ Apa
Fans quickly noticed that Mr. Fantasy — who claims to be a budding musician aiming to make it big in Hollywood — has the same tattoos as the heartthrob performer
Apa recently made headlines for the release of his latest movie The Map That Leads to You, which hit Prime Video on Aug. 20
KJ Apa — or someone that looks exactly like the heartthrob actor — has us seeing double.
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, new TikTok user “iamtherealmrfantasy” uploaded his first video: A man, donning a tousled dark brown French bob, grooving in his car, posted with the caption, “Hello TikTok. Hello Los Angeles. Hello world. 🤪🤪.”
Immediately, commenters took notice of the TikToker’s striking resemblance to 28-year-old Riverdale star.
“KJ WHAT ARE YOU DOING AGAIN 😭” wrote one. “so just so I’m clear this *is* kj but in disguise…?” another penned.

And the posts kept coming. In one, Mr. Fantasy thanks a Burbank, Calif., stylist for a haircut. In another, he poses with a tall glass of Guinness inside a homey pub. The account has notched over 1.8 million likes with only 11 posts.
According to the account’s bio, Mr. Fantasy has new music “coming soon." He claims he’s working with a producer named “John,” and in one clip, he prances down the streets of Venice Beach with nothing but a pair of brightly colored, skimpy swim briefs.
“Very soon — and I mean very soon — I’m going to be a man among greats,” Mr. Fantasy says in one video, wearing eye-popping American flag bell-bottoms, and pointing in the direction of the Hollywood sign.
Fans have been quick to point out that, in addition to Apa and Mr. Fantasy’s identical facial features, the pair have the same tattoos.
“This is an excellent use of free will,” a fan wrote of the new account. Others speculated Apa was debuting a new character for a forthcoming movie.
PEOPLE reached out to Apa's reps for comment.
The New Zealand-born actor’s potential zany TikTok ventures come fresh on the heels of his latest movie, The Map That Leads to You, which hit Prime Video on Aug. 20. The film, in which Apa stars alongside Outer Banks actress Madelyn Cline, charts the unexpected love story between the two during a European travel adventure.
Speaking to PEOPLE ahead of the film’s premiere, Apa — who wrapped up his breakout role in the CW’s Riverdale in 2023 — recounted the identity crisis he faced as he said goodbye to The CW series.

“When I finished that show, I went through a year of really having to regather who I was, like re-remember who I was,” said the actor. “I definitely had this crisis of identity with a whole lot of other things that I was going through. Being a dad, my son being one year old at the time, going through a breakup with his mom and navigating all of that while trying to pick up the pieces of who I was.”
But, he added, “I look back and I'm so grateful for it because I asked for this life.”
In an August interview with Entertainment Weekly, Apa opened up about his early years on the set of the teen show, remembering the “drama” of the show’s hookup culture.

"You have sex with them and stuff, and then things start happening, and then things get a little complicated, and then you're on set, and now you're fighting with them," he said of the set. "I was a virgin when I started on that show, too, for the first couple years.”
