While the former couple are not together, an exclusive source tells PEOPLE that the actress and the rapper feel like “good friends again”
An exclusive source also shared with PEOPLE that the parents are not “pushing for labels” after welcoming their four-month-old baby girl, Saga Blade Fox-Baker
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly are focusing on family life after recently welcoming their baby girl, Saga Blade Fox-Baker.
The couple spent time together in Costa Rica with their daughter last month, where a source exclusively tells PEOPLE the trip gave the on-off pair an opportunity to reconnect. “Their Costa Rica trip wasn’t about rekindling a romance so much as it was about rebuilding trust. For the first time in a long while, they felt like good friends again. They have a solid understanding now.”
Fox, 39, and MGK, 35 — whose real name is Colson Baker — have been taking things slowly as they adjust to life with their daughter. “Megan’s not closing the door for good on a relationship, but she’s not walking back in completely either."

Neither Fox nor MGK has commented on the status of their relationship, but the source says they aren't in a rush to define it. “The truth is, no one’s pushing for labels. Megan and Colson are focused on whether this evolving connection can truly last beyond just co-parenting,” the source adds.
A second source says, “They’ve come a long way since last year. They were both extremely excited when Megan found out that she was pregnant again. It was devastating for her when she felt the need to break things off.” Adding that the Costa Rica trip was “special” for the pair.
“They’d been before as a couple, but never with the baby. It was very special and relaxing.”
On March 27, MGK welcomed his second daughter, his first with Fox, sharing the news on his Instagram as he posted a video of himself with his newborn. In the black-and-white video, Kelly could be seen holding his baby's hand, stroking her fingers.
"She’s finally here!! our little celestial seed 🥹💓♈️♓️♊️," Kelly wrote in the caption. "3/27/25."
Fox shared that she and MGK were expecting their first child in November 2024. Weeks later, the pair broke up, with a source telling PEOPLE that Fox was "blindsided" by their split.
The Transformers actress is also a mom of three boys: Noah, Bodhi and Journey. Fox shares her sons with ex-husband Brian Austin Green, whom she split from in 2020 after 16 years of an on-and-off relationship.
Fox and MGK first met in 2020 on the set of the film Midnight in the Switchgrass. Their connection quickly turned romantic, and they announced their engagement in January 2022. Over the years, they’ve collaborated on music, made red carpet appearances together and often spoken about their bond publicly.
On Aug. 7, the rapper and actor appeared on Today with Jenna and Friends to talk about his upcoming album Lost Americana. While speaking with host Jenna Bush Hager, MGK opened up about how life with his daughter Saga, 4 months, has been.
"It’s awesome. I want to detract all of the congrats to me and just move it to Megan because she really does all the work. I keep getting called ‘The Music Teacher,' " he said. "Someone the other day was like, ‘You’re such a good dad!’ Just because I was holding the baby. And she was fuming, like, ‘No, no, no, no.’ She’s the one. I just play the guitar and pray that the baby is happy."
Reps for Fox and MGK did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
