Before the high-tech, soaring roller coasters of today’s amusement parks, there were rides that would probably never pass inspection: rickety wooden coasters, seatbelt-less bumper cars, and questionable Tilt-a-Whirls. Still, these parks were a place of joy, and could be found in both major cities and small towns across the globe. These vintage photos of old amusement parks capture a bygone era of classic carousels and cotton candy, and are a reminder of the charm that carries through to today’s gravity-defying rides.
